What tax limits apply to corporate Diwali gifts in 2026?
Corporate Diwali gifts to employees are valued at nil up to ₹15,000 per employee per tax year, up from ₹5,000, according to KPMG's summary of the Income-tax Rules, 2026, notified on 20 March 2026. Gifts to clients and other business associates attract 10% TDS once benefits to one recipient exceed ₹20,000 in a financial year, according to the Income Tax Department.
TDS then applies to the whole value, not just the excess, although individuals and HUFs whose previous-year turnover was within ₹1 crore (business) or ₹50 lakh (profession) do not have to deduct it. The Income-tax Act, 2025 came into force on 1 April 2026, according to an Income Tax Department press release, and TDSMAN confirms that Section 194R of the old 1961 Act is now covered under Section 393(1) of the new Act.
